Filipenko Maxim graduated from Novosibirsk State University in 1990 and in 1995 he defended his PhD thesis studying human ribosomal protein genes organization. In 1995 he was a scholar of the European Molecular Biological Organization (EMBO) and spent half of year at the University of Tor Vergata of Rome (Italy). In 2000 and 2001 he worked as visiting scientist at George Mason University (USA) in the area of human mutation detection methods. Currently Maxim Filipenko is head of the Pharmacogenomics Laboratory in the Institute of Chemical Biology and Fundamental Medicine at the Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences.
In the past few years his main research interest is usage of genetic testing and individual transcriptome for personalized medicine, biomarker finding and developing companion diagnostics. Pharmacogenomics Laboratory provides a clinical molecular-genetic testing service in Siberian region and a translation of newly emerging diagnostic techniques in clinical practice.
